Deficit irrigation strategies for subtropical mango farming. A review

چکیده

Mango (Mangifera indica L.) is broadly grown in tropical regions and can also be cultivated irrigated subtropical semi-arid areas; however, water shortages are a serious problem the latter region. Among biotic abiotic factors, supply one of most crucial elements that determine productivity. The allocation will an ever-increasing source pressure because vast agricultural demands under changing climatic conditions. Although mango considered to tolerant drought, stress during growing cycle reduce Here, we review recent progress evaluating augmenting Developments physiological agronomic understanding have led boost productivity presented. In addition, this deals with deficit irrigation strategies elucidate effects on yield, use efficiency, response indicators stress. Our main findings were as follows: (1) Under climate, traditional based balance not sustainable medium/long term; (2) applied save by up 40% improve efficiency 30%; (3) there valuable potential for further improvement owing advanced knowledge terms stress, good prospects within current approaches if they associated specific environmental physiology. We concluded medium-/long-term perspectives regarding available resources, particularly arid regions, urgent demand adaptive water-saving strategies. Thus, it vital redesign schemes areas where scarce adjust only water, enhance maintain but produce fruits improved quality.

Review of whole-farm economic modelling for irrigation farming

The main objective of this paper is to review the progress that has been made in South Africa with respect to whole-farm economic modelling over the past 2 decades. Farming systems are complex and careful consideration to the stochastic dynamic nature of irrigation farming processes and their linkages with the larger water system is necessary when conducting whole-farm modelling. Both simulatio...

Deficit irrigation for reducing agricultural water use.

At present and more so in the future, irrigated agriculture will take place under water scarcity. Insufficient water supply for irrigation will be the norm rather than the exception, and irrigation management will shift from emphasizing production per unit area towards maximizing the production per unit of water consumed, the water productivity. To cope with scarce supplies, deficit irrigation,...

Sugarcane responses to irrigation and nitrogen in subtropical Iran

Limited information is available on water and nitrogen (N) management of sugarcane (Saccharum officinarum L.) in Khuzestan, southwestern Iran, where this crop is currently and extensively grown under heavy irrigation and N fertilization. Therefore, a field experiment was conducted from September 2000 to March 2002 at the Research Department of Karoon Agro-industry in Khuzestan to determine the ...

Scale-up Strategies for Membrane-Based Desalination Processes: A Review

Membrane-based technologies have increasingly been chosen in desalination processes, which is evidenced by the increase of large-scale plants constructed in recent years. Indeed, several appropriate strategies should be considered to minimize problems faced during the construction, such as membrane system designs, area requirement, energy requirement, operation and maintenance, and environmenta...
